If there's one thing I've missed during this quarantine it's been going to my weekly beauty appointments. Are you feeling the same way?! Every 10-14 days you'll find me at the nail salon for a fresh fill, plus gel polish. I always have my nails done. During quarantine this luxury is obviously off the table. One month into our stay at home order, I bought a $20 Kiss Cosmetics Nail kit ( I can't find it anywhere online but this one was similar) and gave myself a color dip manicure after my nails started to grow out. I did some thorough research online for a higher quality kit, with more colors, and came across this really awesome Modelones Color Dip Nail Kit on Amazon. I'm going to link it below as well as some extra products I bought at Harmon that really helped my DIY manicure. All together I spent under $75 and will have the tools I need to give myself the VERY SAME professional salon quality I would normally get at the salon for the year. Since we're not sure when our nail salons are opening, I'm not taking any chances! XO, Ashlee K.
Step 1: Soak off current gel / tips with Onyx Gel Soak Off. I used Kiss Cosmetics "Quick Soak Off" to hold the soaked cotton on top of my nails. I love how it has a touch sensitive finger tip so you can browse on your phone.
Step 2: Glue on some tips if you want your nails to have length ( I used tips from Kiss Cosmetics ) and file them to the shape you desire.
Step 3: Select which color gel you'd like. These were the color options in my Modelones Color Dip kit.
Step 4: Apply the color dip starting with your inferior hand first, then dominant. I found this to be easier. Allow nails to dry.
And VOILA! you'll have a beautiful gel-like manicure.
The one tool that I'm really glad I bought was the metal Cuticle Pusher/Cleaner Tool. ( I got it at my neighbor Harmon) This helped me remove the gel from my finger tips after they were soaked.
The purple buffing rectangle really helped me smooth and shape my nails once I applied the gel.
